A Custom made edition of our Q Series Ring, Mirror Finish
This past year, we were commissioned to create a unique piece for a new customer. For his anniversary, he wanted to gift a custom-designed jewelry piece. We talked about the rings that we already offered, and in order to keep his costs down, we recommended to adapt one of our current sterling-silver rings to incorporate a natural Akoya pearl.
We looked at a few different options and he finally settled on adapting the Q series ring to include a natural Akoya pearl. When our Q series ring is fabricated, three separate pieces are cast and then assembled. The band is one piece, and the sphere part of the Q is two halves that are joined together. Once these 3 pieces are assembled, the pieces are then hand-polished.
This created a bit of a dilemma for us, or rather for our craftsman, as the pearl needed to be put into place before the three pieces were assembled. This meant that a lot of care was necessary to prevent the pearl from getting damaged during the assembly and polishing processes.
This is the first piece that we have custom designed for someone and we are happy to say that it was very well received! We can also craft our jewelry in gold, and platinum for special orders. It was a lot of fun to create the Q series Ring with a natural Akoya pearl, and we hope to get more opportunities to do custom work in the future.
